ABOUT TIM

Tim qualified as a teacher of boys’ physical education a long time ago (1980)! He taught in Birmingham for 3 years before joining the Royal Air Force as a physical education officer. For much of his 17 years in the RAF he was involved in various aspects of military parachute training. He left the RAF in 2001 and worked for a parachute manufacturer for 3 years. Following redundancy he decided to pursue his passion for training others to help improve their health and fitness. He has been a self-employed personal trainer since 2005 primarily specialising in working with clients with ongoing health issues and older adults. He has a wealth of knowledge, experience and a range of qualifications including:
  • Exercise for cardiac rehabilitation (British Association for Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation)
  • Exercise for stroke rehabilitation (Later Life Training)
  • Exercise for falls prevention (postural stability instructor (PSI) Later Life Training) (He is recognised by the NHS Gloucestershire Falls Prevention Service)
  • Exercise for people with Parkinson’s (Level 2 PD Warrior instructor)
  • Tai Chi instructor (Qi Qong and 24-form Yang style)
  • Dementia awareness (completed NHS dementia awareness training)
  • Level 3 gym instructor
  • Certificate in Nutritional Advice for Weight Management and Common Clinical Conditions (endorsed by British Dietetic Association)
  • Advanced Diploma in Exercise and Health Recommendations for GP Referred Clients
  • BEd (Hons) specialising in Physical Education
  • First Aid
Tim has a very good working relationship with several local NHS and private physiotherapists and a wide experience of working with clients preparing for or recovering from hip and knee replacement surgery
